May 2017 Goals

[1] keep running

I’ve been jogging regularly during the second half of April, and it’s become a positive ritual in my life. I sometimes find it difficult to factor a jog into my inconsistent work schedule, but I want to make sure to continue making time for it. I also hope to run some races in the coming months, because it’s something I’ve never done and have always wanted to do. I wasn’t someone people referred to as “athletic” when I was growing up, but I love the idea of being able to do anything I want and not feel held back by the way I’ve always been perceived (by others and especially by myself).

[2] read 5 books

I’ve been really enjoying taking advantage of my local library lately, and I’ve gotten very excited about reading. I didn’t read that much at the beginning of this year, but I’m trying to get back into it and see how many books I can read by the end of the year. Last year I read about 30 books, so I’m hoping to at least beat that.

[3] make more art

If you didn’t know, I graduated in June of 2016 from an art and design college. My major was film/animation/video with a focus in animation. Since graduating, I’ve found myself wanting to take a bit of a break from making art, and focus on other things like reading, writing, and relaxing. This next month, I’d love to try to make more drawings or paintings or whatever I feel like making, without feeling any pressure about it. I think this could really help me on my road to self-discovery. The photo above is of a drawing I made of my sister some time since graduating.

Do you have any goals for the month?

All the best,

Spencer
